SATURDAY DAILY REFLECTIONS GROUP FORMAT
Good morning. This is the Elk Grove Daily Reflections Group meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. My name is _________. I am an alcoholic and your secretary.
Please join me in a moment of silence and meditation, followed by the Serenity Prayer.
The following is the Preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous: Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution, does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help others to achieve sobriety.
Singleness of purpose statement: This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are glad you are all here, especially the newcomers. In keeping with the singleness of purpose and our third tradition, "The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking," we ask that all who share confine their discussions to their problems with alcohol or alcoholism.
I have asked _________ to read "How it Works" from Chapter 5 of the big book.
I have asked _________ to read the "Twelve Traditions".
At this time, we ask anyone who is here for his or her 1st, 2nd or 3rd meeting or if you are in your first 30 days of sobriety to please introduce yourself by your first name only. This is not to embarrass you, but to help us get to know you better.
Are there any visitors at our meeting today? Please introduce yourself.
Are there any AA announcements?
We celebrate AA birthdays at this group on the last Saturday of the month. If you would like to join our group and celebrate your AA birthday with us, talk to the Treasurer or me after the meeting. Are there any AA birthdays for the month of _________
We hold optional business meetings as called for by group members.
There is AA literature in the front hall and books on the table. The literature is free. The books and meeting schedules are available at our cost.
Since we are self-supporting through our own contributions, the basket will be passed about half-way through the meeting. These donations help to pay for refreshments, literature, and rent for the hall and contributions to Sacramento Central Office and New York General Services.
Now I would like to introduce _________, our chairperson for today.
I would like to thank _________ and _________for reading, and _________ for chairing the meeting today.
If you have one year or more of continuous sobriety and are willing to be a temporary sponsor, please raise your hand.
Remember, I am responsible: When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there and for that I am responsible.
_________, would you please lead us in the Lord's Prayer.
